These Stainless Steel Idlers are used in corrosive environments and high moisture applications. Since stainless steel is more abrasive resistant than mild steel, these idlers are also used where abrasive elements can damage normal steel idler rolls. Typical applications for Stainless Steel Idlers include food and medical grade applications. Corrosion resistant bearings are available upon request. Like our Steel Idlers, Stainless Steel Idlers are well suited for high to medium loading applications. When running long webs at high speeds and tensions, Stainless Steel Idlers have a higher first critical speed than aluminum rolls due to their superior stiffness. Each roll is machined to precision tolerances, has a 32 RMS surface finish across the face, and is to ISO grade G6.3. Advantages - Corrosion resistant
- Abrasion resistant
- Three times the stiffness of same size aluminum rolls
- Higher speeds possible on long rolls
- Low thermal expansion allows rolls to be used in elevated temperatures when properly vented
- Superior tensile strength and surface hardness than aluminum and mild steel
